Baban Namdev Gawade, aged 59, from Tuljapur, Maharashtra, has been conferred with the prestigious title “Pioneering 25-Year Struggle for Tuljapur Railway Route Recognition” by Genius Book of Records. This honor recognizes his sustained leadership and relentless efforts toward the development of the Solapur–Tuljapur–Dharashiv (Osmanabad) railway corridor.
As the President of the Tuljabhavani Railway Sangharsh Samiti, Mr. Gawade has been at the forefront of a long-standing public movement aimed at improving railway connectivity in the region. Between 2006 and 2024, he actively organized and led numerous democratic protests and awareness campaigns to bring attention to the long-pending railway demand.
His initiatives included Rail Roko agitations, silent marches, public rallies, sit-in demonstrations at the Collector’s office, organized protests at the Solapur Railway office, state-level delegations, ministerial representations, and a symbolic one-day hunger strike. Through consistent public engagement and lawful democratic activism, he ensured that the concerns of the people of Tuljapur and surrounding regions remained visible at both state and central levels.
His sustained advocacy has significantly contributed to the approval and initiation of work on the Solapur–Tuljapur–Dharashiv railway line by the Ministry of Railways. With the project now underway, there is strong public expectation that the Tuljabhavani Express will operate on this route by 2028, marking a historic milestone for regional connectivity and economic development.
Baban Namdev Gawade’s journey reflects the power of persistent civic leadership. His recognition by Genius Book of Records stands as a tribute to grassroots activism, democratic engagement, and a quarter-century of unwavering dedication to public infrastructure development.
