A retired Coffee Board Officer with an impressive academic background, he has devoted more than 30 years of his life to mastering the delicate and disciplined art of bonsai cultivation. At the age of 77, his journey continues to inspire both seasoned artists and young enthusiasts alike.

With a thriving collection of over 300 bonsai plants maintained within his home, Dr. Subramanian has transformed his personal space into a living gallery of miniature natural beauty. Each bonsai reflects years of careful nurturing, patience, and artistic vision. His work is not merely horticulture – it is a harmonious blend of nature and creativity.

His bonsai masterpieces have been exhibited at numerous prestigious platforms, including flower shows organized by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in Coimbatore, as well as exhibitions hosted by PSG College of Engineering, PSG College of Arts, and PSR College. His participation in various private and public exhibitions across Tamil Nadu has further elevated his recognition.

Dr. Subramanian’s contributions have been widely acknowledged by leading newspapers such as The Hindu, Indian Express, Times of India, Dinamalar, Dinathanthi, and Malaimurasu. His work has reached audiences across regions, including special features in the Madurai and Pondicherry editions of Dinamalar.

In addition to bonsai, Dr. Subramanian is deeply involved in the art of Suiseki – an ancient practice of appreciating naturally formed stones that resemble landscapes, waterfalls, animals, and human figures. These stones are carefully mounted on handcrafted wooden bases known as daizas, enhancing their aesthetic and artistic value.

Through decades of unwavering commitment, Dr. Subramanian has not only preserved traditional art forms but has also inspired a wider appreciation for nature-inspired creativity.
